Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
