Palestinian-American Teenager Freed Following Nine-Month Period in Israeli Detention

A American-Palestinian teenager who spent 270 days in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges was released.
Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.
American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.
Currently aged sixteen, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.
They said he is visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.
Through an official statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".
Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.
"At this moment, our priority is getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention he needs after being subjected to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."
US officials said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to US authorities and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.
The father, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed his child admitted guilt to throwing stones due to physical abuse.
He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, and only heard about his son's condition through judicial records.
The teenager remained absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.
Additionally housing mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced of serious terrorism offences and homicide.
An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.
Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving physical abuse and torture.
